Wine Bar in Valletta with Character

No.1 Strait Street, (Also know as the Gut)

Opening Hours: Every Evening From 7pm Till late, Closed on Mondays.

Located in Strait Street (like Marks & Spencers) The wine bar is small but full of character the cellar is some 300 years old. The wine list is vast with over 200 wines, but very nicely put together with a selection of wines from the more unusual producing countries. There is a good selection of sparkling wines and champagnes.

Seating areas can be found at the small bar, outside on the sloping and charming Strait Street and also at tables for dining inside. The food is of a high standard and very nicely presented and consists of a selection of Maltese Platters full of nice local ingredients and also more international specials.

We were able to try a very good cheese fondue served with Maltese bread. The desserts are home made with care and we can recommend the baked cheesecake which is divine and can be washed down with a selection of dessert wines or spirits from the well stocked bar. The wine bar has built a good reputation and has a good local trade, well worth a trip. It is one of the best known wine bars in Malta.
